When it comes to sealing openings and framing, the Masons 40 Below flashing tape family is ultra-thin and ultra-sticky for fast and efficient installation.

The new generation of Masons flashing tapes use acrylic adhesive technology for aggressive adhesion that performs across an extensive temperature range – from sub-zero right through to sweltering heat. The adhesive used is compatible with most commonly used sealants and adhesives, and the range is CodeMark certified.

At a thickness of only 0.2mm, tapes are pliable and easy to use. Unlike old-school bituminous tapes, there is no thick build-up in corners, corner soakers are optional, and tapes do not need heating first in winter. Window and door openings are more precise and square with Masons acrylic tapes, making joinery easier and more accurate to install.

Choosing the right tape for the job

A properly installed flashing tape system seals building framing from moisture ingress around windows, doors, and nail and screw holes – tested to ASTM D3330 for adhesion and AAMA-711.5.21 for nail and screw sealability.

The new tapes from Masons are compatible with ridged and flexible building wraps (note: proprietary ridged air barrier systems may require specific tapes) and come in three types – 40 Below, 40 Below Platinum and 40 Below Flex – each designed for different applications and wall thicknesses and all with a 15-year warranty.

Masons 40 Below is a classic white facer tape that has excellent adhesion in a wide range of conditions. Easy to install, and with up to 180 days’ UV protection, 40 Below has earned the trust of professionals for its no-nonsense performance at a great price.

40 Below Platinum has an advanced poly-acrylic adhesive for aggressive adhesion and dependable performance in temperatures from –10˚C to 40˚C. It has a distinctive silver aluminium facer, with excellent water resistance and a UV resistance of up to 180 days.

The most advanced, high-performance flashing tape in the range is 40 Below Flex, with cutting-edge adhesive and a superior flexible facer. 40 Below Flex has high water resistance and maximum UV protection of 270 days. It is nail and screw sealable with just one layer, and suitable for seam overlaps and head flashings.

Part of a complete moisture-management system

A high-quality flashing tape is arguably the most important element in a secure building envelope, ensuring the structure maintains its moisture resistance over time.

All 40 Below flashing tapes comply with the New Zealand Building Code, and 40 Below Platinum is certified by CodeMark. Alongside the Masons UNI range of flexible air barriers and VHP roofing underlay, they are part of a complete moisture-management solution for New Zealand buildings, providing the best results for builders, installers and their clients.
